Lice – by far – are one of the most frustrating pests to ever invade humankind. Primarily because of lice only targeting and surviving off of the human scalp. The exclusivity of infesting the human head and their tendency to cause discomfort and itchiness, lice rank as the most annoying pest at best, and the most evil at worst. And so, for that reason, we’ve compiled a list of three things you should know about lice to help you defend your scalp and find the lice treatment you need!
Lice Spread Fast
Unsurprisingly, lice spread at an extremely fast pace like most pests. An adult female louse alone can produce and lay up to 150 eggs. It doesn’t take a mathematician to figure out how quickly this can get out of hand. And with a very short maturity rate, this rapid reproduction will grow almost exponentially. Because of the breakneck speed of reproduction and infestation, it is vital to seek lice treatment as soon as humanly possible, as lice will never go away on their own. The longer they are left to run free on the human scalp, the worse the problem becomes. They will never stop growing in numbers and reproducing, as they have a limitless supply of energy and fuel from your blood. Gross, I know.
So, then the only question is, how do I get rid of these awful creatures? Well, that will lead us to our next point!
Now I’m sure most of you will remember the classic “best” home remedy to a lice problem, as seen on TV and DIY websites: Mayonnaise. Nothing seemed to do the trick more than slathering on an unbelievable amount of mayo on a kids head to suffocate lice. But beyond the comedy of television and the questionable reliability of DIY life hacks, mayonnaise will not do anything to help your lice problem. In fact, it will make the situation worse, as now you have mayonnaise all over your head which may lead to deep introspection and a re-evaluation of your decisions thus far.
Jokes aside, homebrew lice treatments have never been proven to be useful and should not be used as a primary way of treating lice. Even professional products used in the home to destroy lice are becoming less and less effective, as lice have started to adapt to the use of pesticides and other chemicals. We are entering a generation of lice that are nearly immune to traditional treatment. This new wave of lice has been dubbed “Super Lice.” Even if they did work, these remedies can take up to 3 weeks to see results, if any. That is a huge chunk of time spent on basically a gamble.
So then, what do we have left to fight off the lice menace? This brings us to our last point!
AirAllé: Proven Lice Treatment
Here in our clinic, we use a Health Canada and FDA cleared lice removal device called the AirAllé System. This device uses heated air to dry out and dehydrate lice and eggs, effectively killing them. This process is completely safe and free from pesticides and is one of the only tested and proven ways of destroying a lice infestation with 99% accuracy. A complete bonus to this method is the lice treatment is done within about one hour.
This treatment is the most effective and quickest treatment on the market. The only other treatment that can see good results is combing out all lice and lice eggs. While this method can be effective, it takes hours of combing and multiple visits. Even with this treatment, if any eggs are missed in the combing process, then the whole cycle will restart again. Using the AirAllé device is the single most effective treatment while saving you loads of time and energy, so you can spend it doing what is most important to you.
